Health and Safety Policy

Wessels Mining & Industrial Supplies cares for the well-being of all staff and recognises its workforce as a meaningful and important contributor to its core business being the extraction of Aggregate, Sand, and Industrial Minerals through drilling; blasting; excavating; loading; hauling; crushing and screening
operations and the supply of construction materials through concrete manufactured products
and readymix concrete.
It is the company’s policy to use our Health and Safety management system to do all that is reasonably practical to prevent occupational diseases, personal injury, damage to property and to protect all employees, visitors, contractors, public, interested and affected parties from foreseeable work hazards, insofar as they meet the operations or are exposed to the performance within the company..

We will endeavour to proactively identify and resolve potential Health and Safety risks before
they manifest as accidents, incidents, or non-compliance.

We furthermore believe that, in self-interest and for the collective good, every employee should
participate in and contribute towards our Health and Safety effort.

Supplier Development

Our Enterprise and Supplier Development initiatives
are aimed at assisting suppliers with challenges
they might face to either enter our supply chain or
even other organisations.
We do this by continuously striving to empower
suppliers through focussed programs that develop
them. The aim is to get more value from suppliers in our supply chain by enhancing their skills and
efficiencies. Both the supplier and Wessels Mining & Industrial Supplies benefit from this partnership. Our interventions are aimed at creating sustainable suppliers in our industry and communities where we operate in.
Wessels Mining & Industrial Supplies would want to see the suppliers in the program create economic benefit in their communities by employing local people, supporting other SMMEs, and transferring skills by doing so.
Furthermore, we try and source suppliers that
produce locally first in order to strengthen the African economy.
Our programs are not only aligned with B-BBEE and
Mining Charter III requirements but to extract value
from our suppliers to the benefit of both Wessels Mining & Industrial Supplies and the supplier.
